White Wines Food Cooking International Guide

White Wines Are Delicious With Food

By Barry J Smallhorn

France, Italy, Germany, Australia, South Africa and the U.S. are just a few countries that produce white wine. The absence of the seeds and skins of the grape allow for a color from the grape juice that explains the name of the wine itself.

Allowed to ferment for three days to three weeks, the process of creating white wines is traditionally the same no matter where you go. The variety of grapes used and the climates from which they are grown has given way to a great number of choices in white wine flavor that can be paired with almost any food.

While "wine country" exists for Americans on the beautiful California coast in both Napa and Sonoma valley, white wine can be experienced by wine connoisseurs and inexperienced wine tasters all over the world.

The Best And Most Popular White Wines

There is no single great white wine. Each has its own award winners and some awards are given based on the kind of wine and the cost per bottle. While there are so many varieties of white wines available, it may be easier to understand the most popular.

The most famous comes from the chardonnay grape in France, though vineyards for this grape exist in New Zealand and California. It is the number one selling white wine in America and tends to be on the dry side. It is not a very expensive bottle of wine, usually selling for around ten dollars a bottle. Production of this wine is high due to the ability of the grapes to adapt to different climates.

Some White Wines Have A Citrus, Fruity Flavor

They come in a variety of colors such as the Pinot Grigio that tends to have a pale golden color to it. Some white wines are made with different flavors. They can obtain a citrus flavor, fruity flavor and some even take on a smoky, grass or hay flavor.

While some need to age in order to get a tasty, fuller flavor, others taste better when not aged at all. Food and wine are a natural combination. Most white wine can be paired with cheese, salads and appetizers including those from the sea, with a main dish of poultry or seafood. They are not as robust as red wines and therefore tend to fit better with lighter foods.

Wine Clubs Can Order Wines From Around The World

For some, white wine is more than a delightful addition to a meal; it is a way of life. It is these kinds of people that wine clubs all over the world cater to. Through these clubs you can order wines from practically anywhere in the world.

Through wine clubs, you can decide which vineyard to visit, how to make your own homemade wine and learn how to discern which food is best with which wine. Some people use wine clubs to meet other wine lovers and tour together.

White wines can be a classic touch to gift baskets and can help you unwind after a long week. With so many flavors to choose from, why not head out and do some tasting of your own?
