When Is Fathers Day This Year?
By Jane Kliperrs
We all know when is Fathers Day, right? Father’s Day in the U.S.,
Canada and the U.K falls on June 21 in 2009, on June 20 in 2010
and on June 19 in 2011. Now you know, so don’t wait until the
last moment to buy a gift or plan a surprise for your special
dad. If you do, then one of two things will happen.
You’ll spend too much money or you’ll get a gift that you’ll
regret. While ties have always been the gold standard for Father’s
Day, times have changed and dads are a lot hipper, which is good
news for dad and for you! This widens the Father’s Day gift playing
field.
If you have to quickly come up with a gift for dad because you
forget when is Fathers Day, and you don’t have a lot of money,
then do something that will make your dad’s life easier instead
of buying a present. Mow his lawn, wash his car or boat, clean
his golf clubs or haul away all that junk he’s been storing in
the garage.
Activities For Fathers Day
Activities that allow you to spend time with him can also save
you a lot of money. Pack a lunch, rent a boat and go on a Fathers
Day fishing trip, enjoy the outdoors with a nature walk, or have
a family picnic at the beach. Anything that gives your dad a chance
to relax with the family will be a big hit.
The malls will inevitably be packed with people who didn’t realize
that Father’s Day was quickly approaching until the last minute,
so avoid the crowds and do your shopping for gifts for Fathers
Day online. Besides having a bazillion sites to choose from, you’ll
also get a better selection of hard to find items.
Shopping Online To Avoid Crowds
As a bonus, you can pay a few extra bucks for overnight or even
same-day delivery. By doing your shopping on the internet, you
can pick up sports memorabilia, clothes, gourmet foods or great
tickets to events without dealing with the stress of crowds and
long lineups.
If you do forget to buy your dad a present, resist the urge to
fall back on traditional gifts and activities at the last minute.
Since restaurants are usually jammed on Father’s Day, don’t assume
that you can take your dad to his favorite eatery for the Fathers
Day special brunch or dinner.
When shopping, avoid items like toiletries and colognes unless
you are absolutely sure that he likes to get that kind of thing.
A lot of guys prefer certain fragrances and don’t like to experiment
with new ones. Whether you are shopping in a store or online,
make sure that you get a receipt so that the item can be returned
or exchanged if it is unsuitable.
A Simple Gift Is Often The Best Gift
Dads sometimes seem impossible to buy for especially at the last
minute, so remember when is Fathers Day and plan something great
in advance. A thoughtful gift will mean more to him than an expensive
one. Instead of wracking your brain for a grand idea, making your
dad ecstatically happy likely is as simple as slipping a picture
of his grandkids into a frame.
Father’s Day is about family, so don’t feel guilty if you don’t
have a lot of money for a store-bought gift. You dad will understand
that life happens. You can make it up to him by giving your time.

Did You Know?
There is a special day in May that is devoted to the man in your
life. It is Fathers Day and this is an important day to give thanks
to someone who means so much to you. Fathers do so much for their
children and their mates. Is it not time to give something back?
There are a lot of gifts to choose from and time is running out.
Try thinking of something offbeat this year to give him. Maybe
he likes microbrews and would enjoy trying his hand at beer making.
