Warehouse Clubs Help Save On Food
By Jennifer Bowers
How many times have you come home from a long day at work, tired
and distracted, only to realize that you have to still make supper
and there’s nothing to eat in the house?
You haven’t had a chance to get your groceries done this week
and supplies are running more than low. Well, maybe you should’ve
chosen a warehouse club as your grocery supply store to avoid
running out of your staples and favorites. There are many benefits
to Warehouse Clubs.
Large families that consume vast quantities of meat, or need
a quart of spaghetti sauce instead of a few ounces, will find
cheaper options at these clubs. Also, these clubs have party trays,
appetizers, and large portion entrees already made for parties,
so you can save some time when you are in a hurry.
Three Main Warehouse Clubs In The Whole Country
There are three main warehouse clubs that are widely known throughout
the country. Sam’s Club is the most widely known in the country.
Sam’s has 540 stores in 48 states. Sam’s is known for reducing
the prices so low that they often times force local businesses
to go under. The Sam’s Club membership is $35 and up for the year
depending on which package you choose.
Costco, a chain with 452 stores in 36 states, is known more for
its’ food selection than the other clubs. Costco has a wide selection
of meats and gourmet desserts that you can’t find at the competing
stores, and their annual membership is $35, which is cheaper than
all of their competitors.
BJ’s Club Is Only Available In The Northeast
The other warehouse club that ranks high on everyone’s list is
BJ’s Club, but you will only find one of their 154 locations in
the Northeast. Their membership fee is $40 a year, but you can
also find great deals on televisions and cashmere sweaters for
gifts.
There have been dangers that are associated with warehouse clubs.
For instance, a woman in Cincinnati suffered severe head and neck
injuries in 2001 when 5-35lbs bags of kitty litter fell from a
top shelf and hit her in the head.
Another woman barely escaped a sofa falling on top of her in
a Sam’s Club. Not to say that it is hazardous to shop in these
places, but you should be aware that items (often oversized) are
placed high in order to create more space for the isles.
Some Downsides To Warehouse Clubs
Warehouse stores do have some downsides, so take these into consideration
before vowing to shop in bulk. Long lines can be a problem for
time-crunched individuals or impatient types.
Most warehouse stores will want you to pack your own groceries
into boxes or bags, and sometimes, the right sizes of empty boxes
aren’t available. Also, using a credit card may be an impossibility,
as most warehouse stores prefer checks or debit card payments.
Call the store you’re planning to visit to get more information
on the inner workings before signing up.
Lots Of Members Never Use Their Membership
Buying in bulk is not an option for everyone. There are a lot
of people who have memberships to these clubs and they never use
them. There are also many people who think that a warehouse club
is only for people with large families.
If you have a large family, items like family sized lasagna would
be a benefit, but regardless of family size, we all need paper
towels and toilet paper. If you want to shop once a month for
your incidentals, joining a warehouse club would be the best way
to save time and relieve some stress.

Did You Know?
What is the difference between all the chefs I read about?
When discussing the varying types of chefs,
it is more common to be talking about a restaurant. The culinary
world is similar to the military in some aspects. At the top of
the chain of command is the Chef.
He or she is in charge of the entire kitchen. Everyone takes
their orders from him. The varying cooks beneath the Chef are
the Sous Chef, the Pastry Chef. The Sous Chef takes his or her
orders from the Chef and is essential to helping prepare the dish
for the customer. They could be working on appetizers, entrées,
or side dishes. The Pastry Chef is responsible for desserts.
The kitchen must work as a team in order for their meal to be
a success. It is not about one person ranking above another but
more as a joint effort for things to go smoothly and the customers
to be satisfied.
