The Easter Gifts To Give Children
By Katerina Octanova
There are many ways to say "Happy Easter," whether
it is with a card and a gift basket or a meal with family and
delicious chocolate for dessert. Easter is a time to celebrate
nicer weather, new life, more vivid colors, flowers blooming,
baby animals being born and an overall sense of optimism and hope.
The Christian observance of the resurrection of Jesus also plays
into this rationale, as Jesus’s death was said to offer humanity
a second chance at redemption. During the Easter holiday, families
will gather together and share in a joyful celebration.
A Treasure Trove Of Surprises
Easter baskets are the most thoughtful gifts to give children
during this spring holiday. What could be more fun than hunting
through the house or backyard to find a treasure trove of surprises?
An Easter basket itself is, of course, an important component.
It could be handmade using the child’s favorite colors or purchased
from a store. Jelly Beans, marshmallow Peeps, Cadbury chocolate
eggs, Kinder eggs, Reese’s peanut butter eggs, Easter-colored
M&Ms, malt eggs and chocolate Easter bunnies are popular Easter
candy to include.
Giving Gifts To Children
Coloring and activity books with crayons and stickers are fun
for younger children looking to express themselves. Since the
weather is finally warming up, items like kites, jump ropes, bouncy
balls, sidewalk chalk and bubbles are entertaining too. Plush
rabbits, ducks or lambs are irresistible for children 12 and under
too.
Of all the ways to celebrate Easter, giving the Easter gift of
candy is probably the most popular. Each year, over $1.9 billion
Easter candy items get churned out to eager Americans.
Lent Is Fasting For Forty Days
For Christians, Lent is a time of fasting and sacrifices, so
their first taste of meat again, such as eggs, ham and lamb, is
quite a treat in and of itself. Baskets can be packed with goodies,
eggs can be dyed and perhaps a parade can even be soaked in! What
could be a better way to celebrate springtime, new life and the
resurrection of Christ?
A child’s Easter gift is sometimes a real live bunny rabbit!
While this may seem like the Easter gift of every child’s dreams,
it is important to research these pets before deciding. Rabbits
are extremely sensitive creatures and may not be as passive and
cuddly as they appear.
Looking After Your Easter Rabbit
Often bunnies feel anxious or frightened when they are being
held and they can be really difficult to capture if they decide
to go for a run. If they are not neutered, rabbits will chew,
spray and dig. Even if they are neutered, they will still find
cords and furniture to chew if the house isn’t "bunny-proofed."
Despite all this, the bunny rabbit can be a lovable pet that
gives soft bunny nuzzles and sweet love nibbles. Rabbits should
live indoors as part of the family in the same way as cats or
dogs. Many Easter rabbits end up neglected or abandoned if their
child masters lose interest in them, so the decision should not
be taken lightly.

Did You Know?
Easter baskets are a lot of fun for children. They wake up that
morning and rush to see what has been left for them. It is a bit
like Christmas. But what do you put in the baskets? You can go
with the obvious choice of colored eggs that you and your children
have dyed together. But what about something else? Gourmet candies
and chocolates are a huge hit with older children. Even adults
would love to get a candy bouquet as a special treat.
