The Bar Food Cooking International Guide
The Bar For All Your Drinks
By Barry J Smallhorn
If you were a fan of 80s television programming, then you most
likely remember the well known show Cheers. The bar setting was
friendly, the drinks were cold and everybody knew your name.
While in most venues today the setting might not be one where
everyone knows everyone, it is true that going out for a few cocktails
is as popular as ever. Today, when you head out the door for a
few drinks with friends, you have many choices.
You can decide to go to a restaurant bar and have a nice dinner,
to a wine bar where you can sample some different types of wine
or to the local karaoke bar where you can sing a few songs.

Bars today are quite different than what has been portrayed in
the past on television. If you were to ask someone if they are
into the bar scene today, they might not give you a whole lot
of information about what they enjoy doing, other than having
a favorite place to go for a drink.
Different Categories Of Bars
Bars today can be put into categories depending on the type of
entertainment they provide and by the clientele that frequents
the establishment. You can find many sports bars that allow their
patrons to watch various sporting events on big screen TVs, dance
bars where you can trip the light fantastic and even singles bars
where most of the patrons are unmarried individuals looking to
meet someone of the opposite sex.
Most bar owners and managers look to fill the bar they own with
a certain type of clientele. They will set the mood and surroundings
a certain way, with the hope of drawing in a specific crowd.
If they are going to be opening a country and western bar, then
of course, the establishment will most likely be filled with country
memorabilia, and a country and western decor.
Crowd To Fit The Bar Setting
While they won’t always be able to control who hangs around their
place of business, and over time the crowd may change, the initial
crowd they pull in to enjoy drinks, will most likely fit the setting.
No matter what your style is or the bar type that you enjoy frequenting,
depending on where you live, you will probably be able to find
one that suits your needs. While you may not be worried about
the type of entertainment that is provided, and are more focused
on the drinks, others may frequent the establishment for just
the entertainment or for the theme they offer.
Maybe you would rather watch the embellishments of a flair bartender
than dance the night away. If this is the case, then there is
most likely a bar out there, with a barkeeper who will serve your
cocktails or your favorite drinks with panache.
