Teapot Cake – Make Your Little Princess Happy On Her Birthday

By Julia Taylor-Fernandez

Teapot cakes are for special occasions these days. You can make one for your little girls’ birthday.

She will appreciate the effort you put in making the cake yourself, rather than buying one already made. She may even help you set up all the ingredients, while you do all the baking.

A teapot cake is a special cake, its not a cake you see everywhere. So she will appreciate all the effort you are putting into her special day, the one day of the year.

Teapot Cake For A Birthday Party

Little girls love having a special cake at their birthday party. For some youngsters having a cake decorated with princesses is their dream, while for others they imagine a cake covered completely with yummy icing flowers.

You can make one with the pans and dishes you already have in your home so there’s no added expense involved.

A Tea Party For A Birthday Girl

A tea party is something that young girls adore. They enjoy setting the table, bringing out their toy teacups and teapot and serving their friends. Naturally there is no actual tea involved, it’s usually juice.

But the idea of taking part in a party that is normally designated only for adults is really fun. Having a beautifully decorated teapot cake is perfect for a birthday celebration that includes a tea party.

Use Oven Proof Bowls

It’s best to bake the cake in oven proof bowls. Two of the same size are required. The reason you want to do it this way is for the circular shape that will result when you place the two cakes together.

Watch them carefully as they bake so they don’t become overcooked. You’ll have to adjust the baking time particularly if you are using glass bowls.

Icing

Next is the icing. White icing works best and again if you want to save time, purchase the vanilla frosting in the cans. It works well and tastes delicious. For a good size teapot cake you’ll need at least two cans of the vanilla frosting.

Round Soft Cookies

There is the spout and handle to contend with and although there are a few different approaches to this, cookies seem to work the best. Purchase some round, soft cookies that you can cut in half.

You’ll be icing these as well and then using the icing to help hold them to the cake. If that’s not secure enough, toothpicks work really well too.

Decorating the cake is entirely up to the cook. It’s best to choose a color scheme and stick to that. For those handy with a piping bag, they can create their own design, including flowers and borders. If you aren’t comfortable with that, purchase a few packages of small candy flowers and use those on the cake.

Take A picture Of Your Teapot Cake

Of course your little girl wants to enjoy the teapot cake so take a few pictures of it so she can look back fondly on all the effort you put into creating something very special just for her birthday tea party.

Maybe when she grows a little older she can bake a nice cake for you on Mothers Day as a thank you present for making her a teapot cake for her birthday.

This way she will show you her appreciation of all the work you did for her special day.

What are the kitchen basics I need?
Kitchen basics that every kitchen should have are pots and pans (in a variety of sizes), measuring cups, measuring spoons, mixing bowls and an assortment of kitchen gadgets that make life easier.

One of these gadgets is a can opener. Being forced to saw off the bottom of a can could take a little of the fervor away from cooking. Also consider keeping whisks, spatulas and tongs as part of your cooking basics.

Another item basic that is used often is a drainer/strainer. These can come in the form of bowls or be part of a boiling pan set. It is used to drain spaghetti water from the pasta or can be used for anything similar.
