Sabatier Knives For A Sharp Edge
By Patrick D Kelly
Sabatier knives are the quality knives to use in the kitchen.
You can maintain their sharp edge by keeping them in a wooden
knife block and using a wooden board when cutting your meat and
vegetables. The sharp edge gives a clean cut to the meat.
They are easy to use in the kitchen and allow for the faster
preparation of a quick meal as the meat and vegetable pieces can
be cut in a short time. After a long day at work, what you really
want is a quick preparation of dinner, and my Sabatier knives
really help in cutting down time in the kitchen, and more time
enjoying a nutritious meal.
It’s great to know your way around the kitchen. Not only
can this help you review your options, especially when you’re
cooking for a large family, but it’s also ideal if you’re
simply a bachelor.
Knives To Last A Lifetime
Once you’ve experienced some fine Wustof, J.A. Henckle, Al Mar
or Sabatier knives in your kitchen, you won’t want the cheaper
variety. The higher cost is well worth the lifetime of use.
Currently I use a mix of cutlery in my kitchen. I have a high
quality Wustof chef’s knife for most of my slicing and dicing.
I have a J.A. Henckle serrated bread knife that performs flawlessly.
I have an Al Mar paring knife that will peel virtually anything.
And finally I have a set of 6 Sabatier knives for steak dinners.
These tools all work wonderfully and I treat them with the utmost
respect.
How To Look After Your Knife
Now, you’re probably wondering how I treat a knife with respect.
That’s easy. First of all, you wash each of them by hand and towel-dry
them. Kitchen cutlery is often high in carbon, which allows it
to hold a great edge, but it will also rust easily.
I hone each edge on a steel sharpening rod before use. This touches
up the blade and refines it a bit for ideal cutting. I always
store my kitchen cutlery in a nice wooden knife block. I don’t
want anything bumping the blades or edge in particular. Especially
not other metals such as silver wear.
Wooden Cutting Board Is Better
And finally, only cut on a wooden or plastic surface. I prefer
a wooden cutting board over plastic, but to each his/her own.
Never cut on metal or ceramic plates.
This dulls the blade terribly.
Okay, now you may be interested in some Sabatier knives or fine
Wustof kitchen cutlery. I think every home should have a quality
knife set in the kitchen.
This is the only way to go. Find J.A. Henckle, Wustof, Sabatier
knives, and a variety of other online or in your local kitchen
store.
Wiltshire Staysharp Knives
I also use a pair of Wiltshire knives that I keep in their sharpening
cases. They were given to me as a gift and I use them when I need
to cut something that is particularly difficult to cut, for example
a large roasted turkey. I cut it all up just before the family
arrives and I put the cuts of turkey meat on a large serving plate
and place it on the middle of the table, for everyone to pick
their choice pieces.
The meat is so delicious, the serving plate is empty within 45
minutes, so I have go back to the oven and pull out the turkey
and cut some more. Using the quality knives with their sharp edges,
more delicious turkey pieces are on the table within minutes.
