Did You Know?

Can a regular barbecue grill be used at cooking competitions?
That really depends on what type of competition you are going to be entering. A regular barbecue grill may not have the space or the capacity to smoke many items. That is why you will often see huge barbecue contraptions at professional competitions. If you have to feed the crowd and judges, you need to be able to smoke or grill a lot of meat.

There are some competitions such as the Sutter Home’s Build a Better Burger competition held in Sonoma, California that competitors use small barbecue grills. If you want to know if you can use yours, it is best to contact the contest officials and read the guidelines. It also does not hurt if you go to a couple of competitions and see what other contestants are using.
