New Years Day Celebrations All Over Town
By Katerina Octanova
For some strange reason, come New Years Day, it only takes a
few drinks to trigger the manic elation you felt last night. Maybe
you’ll start with a mimosa (champagne and orange juice) at brunch...
or, if the hangover has really drained you, some sort of elixir
made from tomato juice, the ultimate pick-me-up for next day blues.
While you may think the last thing you want after last night’s
festivities is another day out, it can sometimes ease you out
of a funk if you set your body in motion... especially if you’re
in one of Pub Club’s "Top New Year’s Day Party Places."
Nonstop Parties In Las Vegas
Las Vegas is a source for nonstop parties, so it’s no surprise
the City of Sin tops the list of "Best Places to Spend New
Years Day." Long after the fireworks on the Strip dissipate
and the Fremont Street confetti finishes raining down, there are
people wandering into champagne brunches, sports bars playing
football games and casinos with flashing lights. Even if you’re
feeling a bit mellower, you can lounge by the tropical indoor
swimming pools in your luxurious hotel, get a spa treatment or
watch a show.
New Orleans is another top New Years Day destination where celebrations
never end. Bourbon Street bars offer 3-for-1 drinks from 4-7 pm
to wet your whistle, as the Sugar Bowl attracts frenzied fans
in jerseys sprinting to the 7:30 game.
World Famous Blues Bars
You can review your options and wander down to Fulton Street,
where simulated snow rains down, festive lights twinkle and hot
chocolate abounds -- for a few more days at least. The New Orleans
Museum of Art promises a relaxing, contemplative day with exhibits
like "Walt Disney Studio: Where Dreams Come True" and
"The Woodward Exhibition." Nothing beats sitting in
one of the world famous blues bars to cure your soul’s hangover
woes either.
Palm Springs, California is situated just two hours east of Los
Angeles and offers many of the same New Years Day amenities that
Los Angeles offers, with a little less football craziness.
Small Town Bars
Spectators are still packed into every small-town watering hole,
mind you, but you won’t have to circumvent face-painted warriors
running down the streets double-fisting cans of beer.
The after party mood in Palm Springs is a little more sophisticated,
with golfers basking in the morning sun and swimmers floating
on rafts at midday.
While the mornings and evenings are still cool -- and the Palm
Springs Tram can get you to high elevations with snow in just
one hour -- Palm Springs is a desert haven for the anti-snow-bird.

Did You Know This About New Years Eve?
Why is New Years Eve so celebrated?
New Years Eve, or simply NYE, is a widely
celebrated night in which fun and parties abound. Why is it so
celebrated? Because it is the one event that every country in
the world recognizes and it is the very last night of the year.
People like to celebrate this night with
parties, fireworks and festivities. The mad rush of the holiday
season is over and this is the final chance at one last "hurrah"
so to speak.
Though the customs vary according to where
you are celebrating you can definitely be sure that spirits are
high as people say goodbye to the old year and welcome in a brand
new year filled with hope and hopefully prosperity.
Perhaps that is the number one reason why
people celebrate it so ardently. The past year may have had its
ups and downs but the New Year holds hope that things will get
better. NYE is often seen as a rebirth of sorts.
