Holiday Party For A White Christmas
By Katerina Octanova
When you are planning your next holiday party, think back on
those you have been to or hosted in the past. They sure bring
back some great memories, don’t they?
When thinking about a theme for your festive party, try to remember
when you were a kid and you used to say "when I grow up I
am going to do this or that," even if whatever it was it
was so grandiose that it was not exactly possible. Well, you may
be able to make some of that come true by envisioning some unique
party planning as an adult.
Many kids, especially girls, love to dream about being a princess
and having their prince arrive at the ball in a beautiful carriage,
etc. That is one of the great things about Christmas theme parties,
as you get to decide how everything will go.
A Snowflake Ball
So why not combine a little of your youthful imagination with
some adult determination and have an all white Christmas party
theme, perhaps something like a snowflake ball.
If you can rent a ballroom, then that would be awesome, yet it
can also be done at home. For a Christmas party decorating idea
you could place one of those carriages that are outlined in white
lights on your front lawn.
White Lights With An All White Tree Outside The Door
Have white lights outlining every part of your "castle"
including the trees, making it a special holiday party site. Perhaps
you could have an all white tree stationed outside the door for
everyone to see when they walk in.
For the party invitations consider using delicate, white rice
paper, writing the pertinent information inside and then rolling
it up like a scroll.
Guests Wearing All White
If you are not able to have them hand delivered, then there are
several places that sell tube mailers, which you could then address
and mail. Ask the guests to wear all white to the party in keeping
with the theme.
The type of food that you serve, and how you serve it can also
make an impact on the decorating theme. For example, you could
have some type of an ice sculpture as the centerpiece of your
Christmas party decorations placed on top of a crisp white linen
table cloth.
Perhaps you can put clear bowls of water out with gardenias and
white votive candles floating in them. The menu for your holiday
party may include caviar on white toast, sautéed white mushrooms
and for desert consider rice pudding or white chocolate mousse.

Did You Know?
How can I not offend people I’ve invited to my Christmas party
that do not celebrate Christmas?
There is a lot of controversy regarding what
is appropriate during the holidays. Do you wish someone a "Merry
Christmas" or do you with them a "Happy Holidays?" The real truth
is that far too much time is spent on being politically correct.
Most people who do not celebrate Christmas do not have a problem
attending a Christmas party.
If you are worried about offending them
then make it a "Winter Holiday Party" instead of using the word
"Christmas." This is the time of year for bringing people together
to celebrate their good fortune. You do not have to center the
party on a religious activity.
If you are that worried that your Christmas
party ideas may offend someone, talk to them in private and ask
them how they feel. If they say that they will feel uncomfortable
then you know that you may not want to extend them an invitation
but explain why.
That way they do not feel offended about
not being invited. Chances are though that they will come to your
party and have a delightful time.
