Healthy Prepared Meals Are Delicious And Nutritious

By Julia Taylor-Fernandez

Healthy prepared meals are available in many restaurants and other eateries, including fast food restaurants. As many people have realized the unhealthy nature of many prepared meals, a lot of the Greasy Joe’s have either closed down or are now offering healthy meal alternatives.

If you work long hours and do not have the time to prepare your own meals, you can go to a restaurant and request a healthy prepared meal. If you are concerned about the cost of having to eat prepared meals every day, you can review your options and look at healthy meals available at fast food chains. Many of these prepared healthy meals, contain fresh ingredients and are not overloaded with mountains of sugar, salt and preservatives.

Scrambling For Unhealthy Meals

In today’s fast paced culture, many of us scramble to get through each day with a goodly chunk of our to do list accomplished. The meals we serve may consist, in large part, of foods which come in boxes, cans, freezer containers and take-out meals. Very few have the time to spend making our meals from scratch.

However, it’s fast coming to our attention that, while providing time savings and convenience, most such food is heavily laden with preservatives and more than unhealthy amounts of sugar and salt. Is there any way to have your cake and eat it too, so to speak? Yes, indeed. You can now buy healthy prepared meals of the plug and play variety. Warming or nuking, right in the container is all you need to do.

Buying Truly Healthy Prepared Meals

Just as our doctors, the government and nutritionists started chiding us on our unhealthy eating habits, the prepared food industry was also taking note. Recognizing this new and burgeoning market of people who wanted truly healthy prepared meals and did not have the time or inclination to do it themselves, these attentive meal makers went into high gear.

The result? You can be an overworked health nut and simply buy a healthy prepared meal, packed with nutrition, sans the nasty additives, just plain good for you! No matter what your taste or dietary requirements, you need not lift a hand, except picking it off the shelf. In some cases, you can have a month’s worth of gourmet meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, delivered right to your door. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

Open The Box And Lose Weight

The nationally popular diet food programs were on the leading edge of this new and profitable market. The dieter need not weigh portions, count calories or know the first thing about nutrition. Open the box and lose weight – as long as you don’t cheat.

The Subway(R) chain soon launched a nationwide marketing campaign, lauding these healthy prepared meals, all wrapped up in a hoagie bun. Eating a healthy lunch came with a big consumer bonus. You can lose weight as well. If you don’t need to lose weight, you can go right on being slim, fit and health-conscious.

Healthy Prepared Meals Gourmet Style

Omaha Steaks supplemented their famous superior steak offerings with a lineup of complete healthy meals in a box. The gourmet style of healthy prepared meals provides you a way to eat not just healthy, but fantastically yummy dining possibilities.

Other options include the personal chef. Here, you hire a professional cook, tell them what you want to eat, and demand healthiness. The chef goes out and does the shopping, cooks and packages the food and delivers it to your home.

It’s crystal clear that if you don’t have the time to cook, there’s no longer any excuse for eating food that isn’t healthy.

Healthy Prepared Meals Offered In Most Restaurants

There are now even fast food chains offering healthy choices, with salads, fresh bread rolls, fresh foods and a selection of healthy fillings, not overloaded with salt, sugar and preservatives. You can now even request low carb food. This fact is not advertised, but if you request low carb versions of your favourite food, many restaurants and even fast food chains can meet your low carb needs.

It is a good idea for many restaurants to meet the needs of the customer amid a changing world, as many people try to balance their busy life with eating a nutritious healthy meal. If you are working odd hours and you have a meal at midnight, you may go to Greasy Joe’s or alternatively go to a better quality restaurant and eat healthy prepared meals.

There are many restaurants, these days open 24 hours, so you do not need to miss out on nutritious food just because you work odd hours. If your favourite restaurant is closed when you need a meal, you can place a request for a healthy meal to be prepared and delivered to your location, before the restaurant closes for the night.

Making Your Own Quick Healthy Meals

If you cannot afford to buy a healthy prepared meal every night, you may buy one prepared meal once a week. Alternatively you can buy you own ingredients and make a quick and easy meal. On your way home, you can run to your favourite food store and purchase small, thin slices of meat, choosing lamb, beef or skinless chicken. The smaller the pieces, the quicker they will cook.

Then go to the salad bar and purchase pre-sliced vegetables or washed and bagged lettuce for a salad. You now have the ingredients for a quick and nutritious meal. You do not have to spend hours in the kitchen preparing your meal after a long day at work. With your thin meat slices and pre-sliced vegetables, the meal should be ready on your dinner table in thirty minutes.

Now you know, how you can make your own healthy and nutritious meals.

Did You Know?

Can food contamination happen in the factory where the prepackaged food comes from?
It does seem as if there are more and more cases of food contamination coming from factories where prepackaged foods are prepared. The reason it seems more prevalent is, in part, thanks to the news and the Food and Drug Administration.

They are quickly alerted when someone becomes ill after eating a certain product. If the product is tested and found to be contaminated with a certain bacteria then the public is notified. And it is easy for contamination to occur.

You have to keep in mind that tons of food (meat, milk, produce etc.) come through these factories. If a batch of contaminated lettuce makes it way in with one shipment and is then combined with other shipments… the whole product is now contaminated.

Often the process of making the product ready for the public helps eliminate the chances of contamination. Canning will often reach temperatures high enough to kill any organism or bacteria. But bagged produce and meat often are not treated to these conditions.
