Gift Basket For A Special Occasion
By Jane Kliperrs
The idea of sending someone a gift basket is not necessarily
a new idea, it has just been expanded upon. In the Old Testament
Moses’ mother placed him in a wicker basket and hid him among
the reeds in the water, in hopes that a wealthy family would find
him and take him in. The pagan goddess, Eostre, carried young
plants in a basket to offer as a sacred sacrifice.
One of the most appealing things about baskets as gifts is that
they are useful as well. You can present your gift in the basket,
but it can also be used later by the person you gave the gift
to. There are many different ways that you can use baskets as
gifts for everyone on your list. They are perfect if you need
a corporate gift, baby gift baskets, a wine gift basket or a gift
basket for Christmas. You can fill them with everything from flowers
to food.
Including Cheese, Wine And Crackers In A Gift Basket
If you have a particular gift giving need, such as a friend’s
house warming, then a gift basket can be perfect. You can always
include a nice bottle of wine in the basket, along with different
types of cheeses and crackers.
If they have kids, then you could include a bottle of sparkling
grape juice so they don’t feel left out. You may want to include
a do-it-yourself home repair book, as it may come in handy. If
they have a sense of humor, include the names and phone numbers
of some handymen around town.
Gourmet Food Gift Basket
Of course, there are many different items that you can use when
putting together a basket as a gift. Food gift baskets are very
popular and can be filled with different types of food, including
fruits, candy, cheeses etc. You can even go an extra mile and
make it a gourmet food gift basket. No matter what you decide
to fill it with, it will be appreciated as they will know you
took the time to add your own personal touch.
No matter what the occasion, presentation can be a big part of
how well the gift is accepted. That is one reason why a gift basket
is such a good idea, as it is part container and part gift. For
instance, if you need a great gift for a baby shower, then creating
a baby gift basket is a thoughtful gift that they will enjoy.
A Sturdy Wicker Basket
You can use a sturdy wicker basket and line it with a soft baby
blanket, and if you have the creativity and time to knit or crochet
one then by all means do so. If not a store bought soft blanket
is fine. You can even make it a bath time basket by getting a
hooded towel or two to line the basket and several small washcloths
in different colors all folded up, then perhaps add some baby
bath wash, baby powder and different lotions, a few sleepers and
a few diapers, and you are done.
Don’t worry about getting too much of one thing. Extra’s will
always be welcomed. With just a little thought you have come up
with a baby gift that they will love.

Did You Know?
Where are some good places to go for gift ideas?
The consumer culture has made it easy
for people to let other people know what they want, so really
it’s not going to be too difficult to get gift ideas, especially
for special occasions like weddings or the birth of a child.
Many stores have gift registries where people participating
in a celebration such as a wedding can register for the types
of gifts they would like to receive.
For example, a couple soon to be married can go into a store
like Target or Bed, Bath and Beyond and register for household
items that would be helpful as they start their life together.
This registry or wish list process also helps to ensure that guests
of the wedding don’t buy too many of certain items.
You only need so many coffeepots in a house! A number of consumer-oriented
websites have similar tools. For example, Amazon.com will make
suggestions about complementary items or other products you might
view on the website.
