GE Wine Cooler Online Reviews Are Not Flattering

It’s something of a mystery as to why, when General Electric
makes other appliances that work so well, the GE wine cooler doesn’t
seem to stand on a par with them.
That, at least, is the impression you get when you see the sparseness
of the current offerings on the GE website and compare them with
the long list of wine storage refrigerators the company has made
in the not too distant past.
Some of those other models still appear to be on sale at appliance
stores, but on other lists, they are described as "no longer
available." Where did they all go, and why?
Looking For Online Reviews Of GE Wine Coolers
On major appliance review websites, the GE wine cooler often
doesn’t even get mentioned. For example, the Galt Buying Guide
(www.galttech.com)
lists several of the best wine refrigerators available and GE’s
products are not there. The most recommended brands are EuroCave
and Vinotemp, with high marks to Avanti.
The Modern Wine Cellar site (www.modern-wine-cellar.com)
goes into great detail in its wine refrigerator reviews, using
a five-point system to analyze the features of a long list of
units. Only the GE Profile PCR06WATSS model is mentioned, and
it only gets two points. By contrast, Avanti models have many
more positive ratings.
Bad Reviews Of Products
Examining the scattered reviews of the GE wine cooler, you start
to get an idea about why this product isn’t high on many lists.
While there are a few positive reviews, most are either lukewarm
or downright hostile.
Apart from questionable customer service, which gets mentioned
more than a few times, it appears that many of the compact wine
refrigerators the company has made in the past few years just
didn’t stand up to regular use. Some complain of design flaws,
while other issues, even if not outright catastrophic, seemed
to be generally annoying.
Only Two Wine Refrigerators On GE Site
The company makes many fine products, but the GE wine cooler
may simply not be one of them. One notices, on the big review
sites, that apart from Avanti, the companies with the best ratings
devote themselves almost entirely to making wine bottle refrigerators
and wine-related equipment.
Look For A Specialist Manufacturer
It may be that GE’s greatest strengths lie with other appliances,
and perhaps that is why there are currently only two wine refrigerators
and one beverage center listed on the company’s own website.
If a person is looking for a wine cooling unit, then it might
be the wisest course to skip General Electric on this one, and
choose a manufacturer that makes these appliances their specialty.
