Gas Barbecues Recipes International Guide

Gas Barbecues Cook Evenly And Quickly

By Frank Russelton

Gas barbecues may cost more than charcoal grills, but they’re still the most popular product in backyard barbecuing. In fact, 60% of all barbecues grills purchased each year are gas. While many people love that "smoky" charcoal flavor, the gas grill is much more convenient for cooking regular meals because it lights up with the flick of a switch, rather than having to wait for the barbecues charcoal to heat up.

Gas grills are perfect for backyard get-togethers because they cook evenly and quickly compared to their charcoal counterparts. Since there is no open, exposed flame, many families feel much safer placing this product on their decks, next to their homes or around children.

Much Easier To Clean A Gas Grill

Cleaning a gas grill is also much easier because there’s no carbon build-up. These are all factors to consider when you’re looking to buy barbecues. Next, we can look at some of the top-selling gas grills.

According to Consumer Search, the Brinkmann 810-8410-S stands out for budget gas barbecues. Costing just $200, this little grill sold by Home Depot performs like the champs, although it’s not as long-term durable. The Brinkmann heats food evenly and it’s noted as "exceptional" for its size and features.

Plenty Of Cooking Space With Four Burners

Four burners offer 630 square inches of cooking space and it also comes with a low-power side burner, which is great for sautéing vegetables, and a bun warmer rack. The built-in bottle opener and beverage holder are nice added features that set this model apart from some of the competition.

With a five-year warranty on stainless steel burners, a three-year warranty on all other stainless steel parts and a one-year warranty on everything else, the Brinkmann barbecues grills are good if price is your main consideration. In some stores, the 810-8410-S model may be out of stock, in which case look for the Brinkmann ProSeries 8300 ($200 at Wal-Mart), which is very comparable.

Best Price Range For Portable Barbecues

When it comes to portable barbecues, experts recommend looking in the $500 to $1,000 range. Anything less, they say, will only offer good short-term performance and will disappoint, so consumers will be looking to buy barbecues again five years later.

Anything higher and you’re just paying for fancier design, luxury features you’ll never use or too much additional space. One of the gas barbecues in this range that has received a lot of praise is Weber’s Genesis E-310 ($650), Genesis E-320 ($700), Genesis S-310 ($775) and Genesis S-320 ($800). These grills are sturdier than others in this price range, experts at Consumer Search say.

Wobble Free Carts, Easy Assembly And Adjustable Burners

Genesis E models are made of porcelain-enameled cast aluminum in black, green or blue, with cast iron grates. The Genesis S models are stainless steel barbecues with stainless steel grates. The base model offers three burners, 42,000 BTUs, 507 square inches of cooking space, a warming rack, electronic ignition, a temperature gauge and a side burner for sautéing. With great customer service, a 10-year warranty, wobble-free carts, easy assembly and adjustable burners, what more could you ask for?

When you’re looking at gas barbecues, be sure to look at materials. Stainless steel barbecues are ideal and carry longer warranties. Since burners are the most-replaced part, you’ll want to find 10-year warranties on them. Look for burners made of stainless steel, cast iron or cast brass.

Stainless Steel And Cast Iron Grates

Widely spaced stainless steel and cast-iron grates work best at resisting rust and chipping. Porcelain-coated grates may be easier to clean but they’re also more fallible to cracking. Stainless steel carts welded together are far superior to painted-steel carts assembled with nuts and bolts. For lids and fire boxes, look for stainless or porcelain-coated steel, rather than cast aluminum.

The ideal igniter is electronic, rather than push button or knob, because it works better. With these tips, you’ll be well on your way to another exciting BBQ season. So get out your chicken, beef and steak BBQ recipes and have a grillin’ good time!

Did You Know?

What types of foods can be prepared with barbecuing?
There are very little foods that cannot be prepared through barbecuing. In fact most foods that you can prepare on the stove or oven can be prepared on a grill or smoker. There are entire recipe books that are devoted to barbecue cooking.

It is easy to name the most common items that are barbecued such as: hot dogs, steaks, hamburgers, chicken, ribs (beef and pork), brisket and even vegetables such as corn and asparagus. There is just something about barbecuing that makes the food taste so much better than being prepared on a stove top or in an oven.
