Fusion Cuisine Combines Culinary Traditions

Fusion cuisine combines the traditions of many other cuisines. It takes the best from the different dishes to create a brand new cuisine. However, it is not genuine fusion cuisine when dishes from different culinary traditions are served in the one restaurant.

In other words, it is not fusion cuisine when a restaurant serves Greek, Italian and Spanish dishes separately in the one restaurant. But if it serves a combination of different culinary traditions in the one dish, then it would be an acceptable fusion dish.

New dishes are created by blending aspects of different dishes. Many fine restaurants serve fusion cuisine. There are different types of fusion cuisine.

Combination Of Different Dishes To Create A New Dish

One type involves the combination of dishes from one region to create a new dish. Asian fusion may involve different aspects of dishes from different Asian countries to create new dishes, or even different dishes from different regions from the same country are mixed together to create a new delicious dish with a similar theme as the original dishes.

Other fusion dishes can be eclectic, without following a particular theme. This is when ingredients and dishes from different culinary traditions are combined to produce new and creative dishes.

Traditional Pizza With A Mix Of Italian-American And Mexican Cuisine

Another type of fusion cuisine is when ingredients from one culture are added to produce food with different culinary traditions. One example would be taco pizza where the traditional pizza crust is topped with refried beans, salsa, and pepper jack cheese to create a mix of Italian-American and Mexican cuisine. This approach can be used to review your options and add pieces of dishes from other cuisines, to make a new delicious and exotic dish.

Fusion cuisine had it its origins in the 1970s when a series of French chefs started combining French cuisine and Asian cuisine. This idea soon became popular with other chefs in other European countries and in the U.S.

Popular In Urban Areas With Cultural Diversity

There are now fusion restaurants in many countries across the world, especially in areas with cultural diversity, and cultural integration where people are more interested eating combined food. Especially in urban areas with mixed population diversities.

The chef and the staff in his kitchen need to have knowledge of the better food combinations, in order to create a successful fusion cuisine. The dishes need to mix well and the chef must combine ingredients that create a pleasant and delicious taste. If the wrong foods are combined, including wrong textures and flavours, then an unpleasant meal may be created and the customers will complain.

Creating A Delicious Dish Is Dependent On The Skills Of The Chef

A combination of European and Asian culinary traditions is one of the more popular options. Since the European and Asian cuisine are so different, a fusion dish can be fascinating or a complete disaster. The skills and knowledge of the chef will help to create a delicious meal and avoid such calamities.

Fusion cuisine has been called confusion cuisine ad some chefs and diners dislike fusion cuisine because they feel it creates unpalatable dishes. Some chefs and diners prefer to preserve culinary traditions.

There are some who feel that fusion cuisine is an insult to their cultural heritage. Some chefs believe that fusion is a technique used by a bad cooks. Poor fusion chefs create a bad reputation for fusion cuisine.
