Culinary Colleges For Better Training
By Jennifer Bowers
If you are a member of the culinary community as either a chef
or someone who just cooks as a hobby, then it may be mind blowing
to accept the fact that some people hate to cook. Either they
just hate the time spent on cooking or they simply do not know
how to cook.
For those aspiring culinary students, it is a love from which
they want to make a professional career. They do this by attending
any one of the culinary colleges that have sprung up across the
country and the world. They are willing to make the sacrifices
in order to make their dreams come true.

Often Physically Demanding Labor
How do you know if you will be able to handle the rigors of attending
any one of the culinary colleges found throughout the country
and the world? Well, the first thing aspiring culinary students
must know is that it is often physically demanding labor. There
will be bruises, cuts and aching feet.
The second is that the classes at the best culinary schools in
the country are often full, so gaining admission into their hallowed
halls and kitchens is difficult. In order to be accepted, potential
culinary students are often expected to have a high school diploma,
an ACT test score, and either a video or essay prepared.
Review Of A Premier Culinary Course
Now it is time to review what you will learn at one of the premier
culinary schools in the United States. The Le Cordon Bleu Culinary
School is probably the one school most people have heard of through
ads and watching television.
Students can expect to learn skills that will prepare them for
the food service industry, such as hospitality, restaurant management,
knife skills, proper food sanitation and much more. The goal for
the instructors is to provide enough instruction and practice
so that the budding chef is able to handle any number of potential
situations.
Most Chefs Have Attended Culinary School
Not everyone can be lucky as the Food Network’s Rachel Ray and
land a plum job without having attended a culinary school. Most
chefs who are well known and respected have attended culinary
colleges and received formal training.
You can look at such successful examples, such as Gordon Ramsey
or Todd English, to see their degree of precision and their masterpieces
in the kitchen. If you hope to succeed in such a tough industry,
then you are going to have to do the leg work and study hard.
Maybe it will be your face on the next hit television show.

Did You Know?
What are some of the jobs that I can expect to work in after
I graduate from a culinary school?
There are a wide variety of jobs that can
open up for you once you have graduated from a culinary school.
You can be a line chef, an assistant baker, a restaurant manager
and even be a pantry cook. Do not expect to get out of school
and immediately become a master chef.
It takes years of hard work in order to obtain the level of experience
that you need in order to say you are a master chef. You may study
for ten years under another chef before you go out on your own.
Eventually you will gain the knowledge and skills you need in
order to be considered a master chef. The trick is patience and
practice.
What are some of the best culinary schools in the country?
A school that is great for one person may
not be the same for another person. A lot of factors go into
deciding what school you wish to attend. There are some great
culinary arts programs found in the United States. These institutes
are: Le Cordon Bleu, The Culinary Institute of America, New England
Culinary Institute and The Art Institute.
Each of these schools has given birth to some phenomenal chefs
of our time. But more importantly you want to choose a school
based on the curriculum that matters most to you. Say, for example,
you are more interested in learning to be a baker. You will want
to look into culinary schools that focus more on baking than being
a line chef.
