Clean Drinking Water For Everyone

By Imogen T Stubbs

Once upon a time, clean drinking water was taken for granted. All source water areas were clean and pure. You could drink straight from a stream. Those days are long gone but the need for safe water continues to be a daily part of our lives.

No one wants to have to worry that their drinking water is unsafe and could make them ill. Having a case of dysentery is not something most people want just because they have to have water to drink.

Regulatory Authorities Monitor Public Water Sources In The Us

All source water in the United States is different. Don’t expect perfect water, because no water is completely pure since all water contains some impurities. Granted, the United States has safe water due to regulatory agencies that monitor public water sources.

The drinking water system of towns and cities must provide the Environmental Protection Agency with a water quality report and samples of its water. Well water on private land is not regulated by the EPA or any regulatory commission.

Clean drinking water does not have to be totally tasteless to be pure. Source water picks up many of its harmless characteristics from minerals and such. Those minerals give the water its distinct flavor.

Debate About Bottled Water Harming The Environment

People will review their options and buy mineral water in a store just for the taste that some people receive straight out of the tap. The bottled water industry has come under fire recently because it was discovered that their "pure" water was nothing more than tap water. It has sparked an environmental debate as to whether bottled water is actually harming the environment or not.

Clean drinking water is a must in any household. Your body needs it to survive and stay healthy. If at all possible, then you should drink tap water because it helps save the environment by cutting down on the amount of plastic bottles being dumped into our garbage systems.

If the taste is not to your liking, then you can always install a drinking water system. Some systems even come with dispensable flavors that come out of the tap. You can have a fruity beverage any time of the day and know that you are putting something healthy into your body. That is the best information you can have.

Is well water safe?
Well water can be just as safe as bottled water or tap water. It will have a different taste though because all of the impurities such as lime that are found naturally occurring in water. Some people actually prefer the taste of well water to that of tap or bottled because of that "hard" water taste.

Unfortunately hard water is really rough on sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers and hot water heaters with the lime scale buildup. The solution is to buy a water purification system and softening system to remove the impurities.
