Catering Services Bring Food To Events

By Jennifer Bowers

If you have ever passed by a construction site and watched as the workers purchase their lunches from a vehicle or a mobile cart, then you have witnessed mobile catering. This is just one of the types of catering services that patrons can utilize. The type of catering that is most known is the event catering business.

This is where events, such as weddings, banquets or fund raising galas, are catered by a business and all of the food is provided by them. Both of these types of catering are part of the food service industry and provide food service jobs to individuals.

If you have been to a live concert or walked down a busy city street, then you may have likely seen mobile food carts or vehicles servicing patrons on the sidewalks. This is mobile catering and one of the many catering type services that exists.

Catering Includes Mobile Caterers

The food provided in the carts or vehicles allows one to pick up a quick lunch and not have to find restaurants to dine in at the time. They are much needed in the food service business and utilized by many different people.

When the word caterer is heard, most often it is event carters that are thought of. These are individuals or companies who prepare and serve the food at the event. The event may be either a sit down dinner where the food is served or it could actually be set up buffet style. The choice depends on the type of event and of course on the needs of the client.

Catering Service For Weddings And School Functions

A catering service will provide food for many different events, such as weddings, bar mitzvahs, wakes and work and school functions. The person requesting that the catering be done can review their options and either request for the food to be prepared at the event or they can ask that the caterers prepare the food off-site and then set it up at the event.

Catering services are something that most people have used at one time or another. While they may not have utilized these services themselves, they may have actually been to an event that was catered. There is a lot of work that goes into the catering business.

Catering Food Is Often As Good As That Served In Restaurants

A catering business needs a manager or the person that owns the business to set up all of the events and gain clients. Food service workers are also needed to prepare the food initially and then to serve the food or set it up at the event. Often, the food served by a catering service equals the quality of food found in seafood restaurants, Italian restaurants or anything from menus restaurant owners serve.

If the food service jobs that are being spoken of deal with mobile catering, then these work differently. Sometimes a mobile catering cart or vehicle is owned by a chain that operates several of them; however, it might also be individually owned and operated.
