Camping Grills For Your Next Trip

By Ginger O’Riley

Camping grills can be used to cook food while enjoying the great outdoors. You may want to escape the concrete jungle, the noise and pollution of the big city and travel to the quiet of the trees and wide open spaces.

You can purchase camping grills online or visit your local camping store. I always like to see the product at the store and then see if I can buy the same product online at a cheaper price. The final price should always include shipping fees, before you decide if you want to purchase online or buy it from your local store.

Camping To Experience The Fun

There are many great camping grills on the market, and before you choose, you should review your options and think about a few things. You don’t want to spend a lot of money on something that you will only use once a year when you are going camping, but at the same time, you don’t want to buy something that is not reliable so that you end up with no way to cook your food. In some cases, you may not even need a grill at all, but you do have to take a few things with you.

The more expensive camping grills are great if you do a lot of camping and you think you may even use it at home once in a while. Some are gas, and they are made to be portable for those who may take a long hike to get where they are going to camp.

Camping Grills Are Small Enough To Carry A Short Distance

Some are a bit larger, but nothing like the ones you would by for your home. Instead, they are small enough to carry a short distance, but will sit nicely on the top of a picnic table and won’t blow away with a strong breeze.

Some like to get charcoal camping grills when they go, and that is a great idea if you don’t mind the wait for them to heat up, and you don’t think you will use it very often. They make a special size just for camping, and they are often small enough to be easily transported in the back of a truck or car.

They are a bit messy, but they are the best value when you don’t want to spend a lot on something that you won’t be using again any time soon, or may even want to toss once your trip is over.

Cooking With A Fire Pit

Sometimes you can find a great way to cook with wood, and you won’t need to have camping grills with you. Some have fire pits that allow you to have a safe fire, and you can put the grill screen over the fire and cook. You can find great ones that are meant for outdoor cooking over open flame.

You don’t want to get something not made for that purpose because they might have strange chemicals on them that will burn off, or they may break too easily. No matter what type of camping grills you choose, make sure you don’t forget the cooking utensils, and getting sturdy ones for camping, in this case, is also a great idea.

Utensils With Long Handles

I use the utensils I use on my barbecue, with the long handles, so that I do not get burned or get too close to the heat. There are a lot of parks, where they have barbecue facilities, so you do not need to bring your camping grills. The less you need to carry with you, the more enjoyable your journey.

Before you leave for your destination, look up the location on the internet and find out the type of facilities available. If you are heading for a recreational park with barbecue facilities, then all you need is your food, cooking utensils and a few plates for everyone and then you can enjoy the great outdoors.

It is so wonderful to sit among the trees and listening to the birds chirping away, while you are enjoying your freshly cooked food.

Find Out About Facilities Before You Leave For Your Destinations

If your choice of location does not have barbecue facilities or a fire pit, you can find out if there are any restrictions on using camping grills. Depending on your destination, you may need to check with local authorities for fire restrictions. If it is during the peak of summer, there may be fire restrictions, but camping grills may be allowable, as long as you use the grill responsibly and do not accidentally start a fire.

If there are no fire restrictions or are required to take measures to prevent fires, then you should always heed those restrictions when using camping grills.

Did You Know?

What are the kitchen basics I need?
Kitchen basics that every kitchen should have are pots and pans (in a variety of sizes), measuring cups, measuring spoons, mixing bowls and an assortment of kitchen gadgets that make life easier.

One of these gadgets is a can opener. Being forced to saw off the bottom of a can could take a little of the fervor away from cooking. Also consider keeping whisks, spatulas and tongs as part of your cooking basics.

Another item basic that is used often is a drainer/strainer. These can come in the form of bowls or be part of a boiling pan set. It is used to drain spaghetti water from the pasta or can be used for anything similar.
