Bacteria And Yogurt Assisting Your Digestion
By Julia Taylor-Fernandez
Bacteria and yogurt are the perfect combination to assist your
digestion. There are plenty of food products we eat and cannot
digest without the assistance of good bacteria. Bad bacteria may
give you infections and make you ill, but if there is a predominance
of good bacteria, then the bad bacteria will lose out.
When you are at the food store, you need to choose the natural,
plain yogurt, without all the fruits. Do not be confused with
all the fruity colours on the fruit yogurts, as these are not
as good for you as the plain yogurts with live cultures.
Trial And Error To Choose Your Favorite Yogurt
Over time, you may realise avoiding the razzle dazzle and multicoloured
packaging is your best option. There may be the option of organic
yogurt placed near the plain yogurt. It may be a little more expensive,
but it may be the perfect choice for your digestion.
You can always try them out, with trial and error. The first
option may be to try out the plain yogurt, and then next time
you can try the organic yogurt and see which one you like best.
Knowing how to make the better choices, is knowing your digestive
system can be assisted with good bacteria and yogurt.
The Good Kind Of Bacteria In Yogurt
When you think of yogurt, it’s probably in the context of a healthy,
tasty snack or light lunch in your lunchbox. Usually, we like
to think there are no bacteria in the food we eat. In the case
of the combination of this particular bacteria and yogurt, it’s
actually good for you and is a natural remedy for yeast infections.
There are both good and bad bacteria. The bacteria contained
in yogurt is, as you might have suspected by now, the good kind.
Furthermore, not all yogurt contains these good bacteria, called
acidophilus. The type of yogurt with fruit already in the carton
does not contain acidophilus.
Vitamin K Helps Restore Balance And Helps Digestion
Yogurt also is one of the few foods that contain Vitamin K, which
helps reestablish the balance of bacteria and aids in proper digestion.
Look for the naturally made brands of yogurt which are labeled
‘live culture’ and ‘plain’ flavor. Now, why you would want to
forego the sweet fruit in order to obtain bacteria and yogurt?
The bacteria in live culture yogurt acts to restore the correct
balance of flora and fauna in your body. How does this balance
get out of whack? One way, well known to women, is to take a round
of antibiotics, necessary to knock out some infection.
Antibiotics Kill Good And Bad Bacteria
The only problem with antibiotics is that they kill off all the
bacteria, both good and bad. The result is the hated yeast infection,
due to the bad bacteria overwhelming the good. Yeast infections
cause some embarrassing and uncomfortable symptoms in women’s
private areas!
Physicians are well aware of this syndrome, and the traditional
medications to get rid of the yeast infection are messy ointments,
suppositories and the like, many of which must be used for about
a week before the yeast imbalance is corrected. Any woman will
tell you it’s a less than enchanting remedy. As if the many side
effects of antibiotics aren’t enough!
Live Culture Yogurt With Every Meal
Here’s where the beneficial effects of bacteria and yogurt come
into play. Just when you’re ending your round of antibiotics,
start eating some live culture yogurt. You want to include it
with every meal, if possible.
If you enjoy the plain yogurt, use it as is. If not, put some
into a smoothie recipe or dress it up with a little fruit in a
bowl. Flavor it with pomegranate, cherry juice or Torani(TM) syrups,
which come in lots of tasty flavors. Add some shredded coconut
or whatever suits your taste.
If you start this regime right away, you may never even get the
dreaded yeast infection. If you do get some symptoms, they’ll
be short-lived. The bacteria and yogurt remedy is natural, it
works, has no bad side effects, is inexpensive and tastes good.

Find The Better Yogurt At The Food Store
The next time you go to the food store, walk past all the fruity
yogurts and look for the live culture or plain yogurts to select
the yogurt most beneficial to your health. Some of the smaller
food stores may not stock these yogurts, as many people would
rather eat the fruity yogurts. Your option is to go to a larger
food store, or head for a health food store, where you will find
organic yogurt and live culture yogurt.
You can eat yogurt as a snack, with a piece of fruit, helping
to boost your metabolism and the good bacteria in the yogurt will
assist your digestion. If you are looking for a dessert after
a main meal, yogurt may be one of the better options, to help
your digestive system digest your meal.
Now you know why the better combination for your digestion, is
bacteria and yogurt.

Did You Know?
What are the kitchen basics I need?
Kitchen basics that every kitchen should have are
pots and pans (in a variety of sizes), measuring cups, measuring spoons,
mixing bowls and an assortment of kitchen gadgets that make life easier.
One of these gadgets is a can opener. Being forced to saw off
the bottom of a can could take a little of the fervor away from
cooking. Also consider keeping whisks, spatulas and tongs as part
of your cooking basics.
Another item basic that is used often is a drainer/strainer.
These can come in the form of bowls or be part of a boiling pan
set. It is used to drain spaghetti water from the pasta or can
be used for anything similar.
